Greg Shapiro, one of the producers of The American Film Company’s upcoming film THE CONSPIRATOR, won the 2010 Academy Award© for Best Picture for his film, THE HURT LOCKER, on March 7, 2010. The film beat nine other nominated films including AVATAR, the highest grossing film of all time.
THE HURT LOCKER had only a $15 million budget, but won six Academy Awards, including one for Best Director, Kathryn Bigelow. Bigelow became the first female director to win the award.
THE HURT LOCKER follows the daily lives of three men serving in the U.S. Army’s bomb squad in Iraq.
