Nominations for the 62nd Annual Emmy Awards were announced live this morning at 8:30AM EST. Among the nominees were THE PACIFIC, GLEE, YOU DON’T KNOW JACK and TRUE BLOOD, all of which feature actors from THE CONSPIRATOR.
THE PACIFIC received 24 total nominations, the most of any series this year. HBO’s 10-part miniseries tells the story of three American Marines fighting in Japan during World War II. James Badge Dale (THE CONSPIRATOR’s “Hamilton”) earned rave reviews for his role as Robert Leckie in the series. The series will compete in the Outstanding Miniseries category, among others.
Freshman hit GLEE follows THE PACIFIC with the second most total nominations (19), including a bid for Outstanding Comedy Series. The musical comedy featured Jonathan Groff (“Louis Weichmann”) in seven episodes this spring as the glee club’s immensely talented rival, Jesse St. James.
YOU DON’T KNOW JACK, HBO’s TV movie about Dr. Jack Kevorkian, received 15 nominations, including Outstanding Made for Television Movie. Danny Huston (“JAG Holt”) plays Kevorkian’s defense attorney, Geoffrey Fieger, in the film.
HBO’s TRUE BLOOD enters the Emmy race for its second season, vying for Outstanding Drama Series. The supernatural hit features Evan Rachel Wood (“Anna Surratt”) in the integral role of Queen Sophie-Anne, one of Louisiana’s oldest vampires.
The Emmy Awards will air live August 29, 2010 on NBC.
